Le Kino-Ciné offers you an event screening around Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, the new film by Claude Schmitz (Belgium/France, 1H26 min), presented at the International Festival of Rotterdam and carried by a duo as unexpected as they are endearing.
Here, everything begins as a formality: two inspectors transferred to the closet in Alsace are responsible for a simple investigation—the disappearance of a ring. Except that the case goes awry very quickly... and what was supposed to be a small police routine becomes an investigation full of detours, encounters, and strangeness, in a city with singular charm.
Between buddy-movie, humor and melancholy, the film plays with codes (fixed shots, "clear line", a nod to the Jewels of the Castafiore) and transforms the territory into a real character.
