Driven from his country, Estrovia, King Shahdov chose, like millions of exiles before him, to seek refuge in the United States, the new Promised Land. Upon his arrival, the authorities took his fingerprints. The deposed king’s misfortunes were only just beginning. He meets Ann Kay, who works in television, and soon finds himself, against his will, taking part in a tacky advertising programme. Later, whilst visiting a reform school, he befriends an unfortunate lad with a precocious political awareness. This encounter, too, will bring him no luck…
