Built at the end of the 19th century by Jean-Baptiste Bethune, the Poor Clares monastery welcomes sisters until 2008. The building was listed as a Historic Monument in 2010. Desecrated and now owned by the city, several actors are now valuing the place. The Friends of the Poor Clares Monastery work for the knowledge and memory of the history of the site. The collective of architects ZERM temporarily occupies the premises and accompanies their transformation into a House of zero waste and circular economy. The Espace Croisé, a contemporary art centre, also located in the monastery, regularly offers workshops and exhibitions.
