Customs officers and fraudsters at the beginning of the 20th century

  • Exposition

From September 7, 2025 to February 13, 2026, the Museum of the Terroir returns to the border history in our countryside at the beginning of the 20th century.
Even though the Belgian border does not pass through Villeneuve d'Ascq, Ascq is 7 km from the Belgian border and has long hosted a customs barracks.
The Musée du Terroir therefore dedicates its new temporary exhibition to customs officers and fraudsters who have long arpented our countryside.
Discover the ingenuity of fraudsters as well as customs officers' methods to catch them.
With objects from the collections of the Museum of Terroir, the Museum of Border Life of Godewaersvelde and the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions of Wattrelos.
From Monday to Friday from 1:30 PM to 5 PM
The first Sunday of the month and public holidays from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
Included in the museum entrance ticket.
Free on the first Sunday of the month.
