The European Metropolis of Lille in partnership with the bike club of Roubaix make an appointment with all cycling enthusiasts on Saturday, May 2, 2026 for the Grand Launch of May by Bike, a national event marking the beginning of a month entirely dedicated to cycling. From 9:30 am, 2,000 cyclists are expected from Villeneuve-d'Ascq and Roubaix for a festive bike ride accessible to all.
Young and old, beginners as well as experienced cyclists, can choose from several loops adapted to their level: 10, 20 or 30 km from the start of Stadium of Villeneuve-d'Ascq, and 20 or 30 km from the start of the André Pétrieux Velodrome in Roubaix.
At the level of the Stadium of Villeneuve d'Ascq which celebrates its 50 years old, a village of animations will brighten the day. Between 9:30 am and 4 pm, awareness workshops, repair, customization, upcycling and games are on the program without forgetting the on-site catering and the possibility of picnicking on the lawns. A guided tour of the stadium is offered at registration. The MEL will also propose on-site, a bike rental service (Lime and Ilévia) on reservation and deposit of an identity document.
At the level of the André Pétrieux Velodrome in Roubaix, between 9:30 and 14:00, of visits to the historic showers of Paris Roubaix will be proposed. A glass of friendship will be offered upon arrival by Mai by bike.
