Creation as part of the festival Cabaret des curiosités du Phénix
From the thirty years of life in Emily Brontë, the Histoire remembered her childhood spent playing on the moor, the village of Yorkshire where she was very bored, the poems she wrote and the imaginary kingdom that she invented to escape this too regulated framework. She published Wuthering Heights a year before her death. This book with its violent adventures, which caused scandal and fascinated generations of writers – from Virginia Woolf to Patti Smith, via Georges Bataille–, tells the story of a cursed love, whose failure weighs on an entire family and two generations, until the final appeasement.
Maëlle Dequiedt revisits this masterpiece with an intense distribution, probing the mystery of Emily Brontë and echoing her cry on stage, between past and present.
