On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the city of Mons-en-Barœul is proud to inaugurate a walking tour dedicated to the work of the architect from Mons Gabriel Eugène PAGNERRE (1874-1939). Winner of the Participatory Budget - 2024, this project, driven with passion by residents and supported by the municipality, invites you to rediscover our architectural heritage through the eyes and achievements of this extraordinary architect who has permanently marked our city.
Gabriel PAGNERRE was a prolific and innovative architect, whose style has evolved over the centuries, embracing Art Nouveau, Art Deco, then Modernism. His constructions in Mons-en-Barœul, where he set up his first practice, reflect a constant search for aesthetics and functionality, mixing regionalist inspirations and technical innovations. From the remarkable Villa Saint-Luc to the Vert Cottage, passing through numerous individual houses and ensembles located on rue du Général de Gaulle, rue Pasteur or even rue Désiré Courcot. PAGNERRE has been able to leave its mark, characterized by the play of volumes, the use of varied materials such as glazed brick and ceramics, as well as a keen sense of ornamental detail. This tour offers you a unique opportunity to take a new look at these little-known architectural treasures that line our streets.
We invite you to the inauguration of this route in the presence of the Mayor, elected officials and project leaders for a first discovery.
