The diversion of the Deûle, intended to feed the new river port, made it possible to endow the city of Lille with an almost continuous green corridor from south to north. In the 1960s, its designer, Théodore Leveau, defined the principles and planned the rights-of-way in a master plan that will serve as a guideline for the promenade.
We will leave the lock of Grand Carré (left bank of the Deûle, Lambersart side) to arrive at the Gare d'eau (Bois-Blancs). Participants will be able to marvel at the amazing landscape gems that this beautiful promenade distributes whose right-of-way deserves to be protected: the dike of the Avenue du Bois, the plain of the Grand Tournant, the site of the Pyramids, the plain of Vachers, that of the Aviators and the southern tip with its opposite, the islet Boschetti.
