The Beautiful Outings - Symphonic Travels

  • Musique
  • Spectacle
  • The Little Suite was commissioned from Witold Lutoslawski by the Warsaw Radio in 1950. The composer takes up Polish folk melodies to make incredible orchestral textures. Nothing sad in this Tomb of Couperin imagined by Ravel in 1920. The composer pays tribute here to the great musician of the 18th century François Couperin. A work all in refinement 'à la française' and nostalgia. In 1829, Felix Mendelssohn visited Scotland. The wild landscapes of the Highlands will inspire him his Third Symphony. Sometimes dreamy and nostalgic, the work adopts at other times a heroic and fiery character.
