Sunday, March 29 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, the Ascq 1944 Memorial is open free of charge and offers a guided tour through the streets of Ascq.

The museum

The Memorial can be discovered on a self-guided or audio-guided tour in 4 languages (French, English, German, Dutch).
The 1944 Ascq Memorial recalls the massacre of 86 civilians by soldiers of the 12th SS Division Hitlerjugend, on the night of 1 to 2 April 1944.
Installed on the main place of executions, the Ascq 1944 Memorial evokes the event and places it in the history of the Occupation of the North of France.
The Memorial is also a place of reflection on the fate of civilians during the war. He wants to bring a message for peace, tolerance and brotherhood among men.

Guided tour on the history of the massacre of Ascq

Follow our guide in the district of Ascq on the key sites of the massacre of Ascq, to better understand its unfolding.
Stops in front of some massacred houses allow to better understand the sufferings of the victims and their families and the fear experienced by the population of Ascq.
It is also an opportunity to discover how the memory of the event was inscribed throughout the village (street name changes, commemorative plaques).
