The French Sign Language (LSF) program at the University of Lille offers, in partnership with the Deaf and Health network of the GHICL, a film debate around the movie Sorda (national release scheduled for April 1, 2026).
The film tells the story of Angela, deaf from birth, who is expecting her first child and questions her ability to become a mother in a world that is still not inclusive for deaf people.
Long-standing partner of the Deaf and Health network since its creation, the LSF sector maintains close links with it. The LSF/French Interpreting Master’s contributes to this in particular. The network regularly intervenes in our training courses. It also welcomes students in internship every year.
This cine-débat is also part of the 25th anniversary of the Deaf and Health network, celebrated in April 2026 with the support of the ARS, whose objectives are to strengthen accessibility to healthcare, promote exchanges between deaf and hearing people, mobilize health actors, of education and the associative world, and promote LSF and the deaf culture.
Synopsis
Angela is deaf, Hector is hearing. They form a fulfilled and happy couple despite
their difference. But the birth of their first child worries Angela: will she be able to create
a connection with his daughter? How to learn to become a mother in a world that forgets if
often to include those who do not hear?
