The MEL, the Vélo Club de Roubaix Cyclotourisme, the town of Villeneuve d'Ascq and the partner associations are organizing a big festive day to launch the month of cycling, on Saturday 2 May at the Stadium and the André Pétrieux Velodrome in Roubaix, as part of the Mai à Vélo operation.

Festive bike rides

For the 2026 edition, Mai à vélo starts with a special event: 5 bike rides organized simultaneously in 5 partner territories! This is the big launch of the 6th edition of Mai à vélo.
Three courses are offered to you at the beginning of Villeneuve d'Ascq:
👉 A 10 km course for all to discover Villeneuve d'Ascq from the Stadium.
👉 A family route of 20 km to connect the Stadium to the Vélodrome de Roubaix.
👉 A 30 km sports course that will also connect the Stadium to the Vélodrome but will also take some paved sections of the Paris-Roubaix.
This outing is aimed at all cycling enthusiasts wishing to share a sporting and convivial moment, whether you are a regular practitioner or an occasional cyclist.
At the Stadium, an entertainment village will be offered from 9:30 am to 4 pm with the possibility of picnics and guided tours (on registration) await you.

👉A family route of 20 km to connect the André Pétrieux Velodrome in Roubaix to the Stadium.

These routes are suitable for all types of bikes: city bike, mountain bike, VTC, cargo bike, adapted bike, gravel, electric bike, road bike, bike with cart...
Some bicycles are available on loan, we want them to benefit people who do not have a bike.

Participatory repair workshop for bicycles

Participatory workshop to learn how to maintain and repair one’s bike with a professional, on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lille Métropole Stadium.
As part of an event dedicated to cycling, come and enjoy a participative repair stand run by the association Les Jantes du Nord. You will be able to carry out maintenance or small repairs on your bike while learning the right actions thanks to the advice of a professional repairer with Les Jantes du Nord and the European Metropolis of Lille
Time slots are offered every 30 minutes, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., then from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (6 seats in the morning and 6 seats in the afternoon).
