Guided tour of the unique Wallaert Family industrial district in Santes
Discover the historic industrial complex of the Wallaert family spinning mill. This guided tour includes several emblematic buildings: a former orphanage, a patronal hall, the Church of the Sacred Heart, a presbytery, two principal’s houses, a boys' school, a girls' school, the house of the director of schools and workers' houses. This exceptionally preserved site reflects the industrial period of the early twentieth century. The family of architects Cordonnier, originally from Haubourdin, contributed to a part of this unique architectural ensemble.
