Commemoration
Every year, Villeneuve d'Ascq pays tribute to the 86 victims of the massacre of Ascq, perpetrated on the night of 1 to 2 April 1944 by Nazi troops. This tragedy, engraved in the collective memory, symbolizes the price of freedom and the duty to pass it on to future generations.

• Departure: City Hall of Ascq
  The gathering will begin in front of the town hall of Ascq before the departure of the procession to the places of memory:
• Le Tertre des Massacrés, place of meditation in tribute to the executed.
• The cemetery of Ascq, where the victims of this tragedy are buried.
• Fort Seclin, last place of commemoration of this day of remembrance.
